Selection Process and E-Poster Presentation Opportunity

Submitted abstracts are screened by the NLA Abstract Review Committee chair to determine if the topic and content are relevant to the field of lipidology (topics below) and quality of writing. An abstract that is not relevant to the field of lipidology will be rejected. An abstract may be returned to the corresponding author for revision and resubmission if the content is relevant, but the quality of writing is poor.

Abstracts that pass the screening process will be reviewed, scored, and selected in blinded fashion and selected on the basis of scientific merit and quality by the NLA Abstract Review Committee. The corresponding author will be notified by mid-March 2026 if the abstract is accepted. All accepted abstracts will be presented as an e-poster at the NLA Scientific Sessions. The presenting author is required to register for the NLA Scientific Sessions and present the abstract. Expenses related to airfare, lodging, and social events/guest fees are the responsibility of the presenting author.

General Information and Policies

  • To ensure abstract(s) are included for publication, either primary or secondary author(s) must be registered as an in-person participant. Virtual abstract presentation is NOT allowed. Authors who are not members of the NLA must pay the non-member registration fee or can apply for membership here.
  • Abstract submissions may be completed over multiple sessions. Note that if an abstract submission is not completed by the deadline, it will NOT be considered.
  • Abstract submissions should be copied and pasted from a Word document, NOT created in the submission system. Check for errors when pasting. Certain special characters may be changed by the browser.
  • To submit an abstract, all authors listed on the abstract must approve the final version. In addition, each author listed on the abstract should have made a substantial contribution to it, such as 1) contributing to the conception and design of the study and the acquisition of data; 2) analysis and interpretation of the data; and/or 3) drafting the poster and/or revising it critically for important intellectual content.
  • Full disclosures must be provided for each author. These requirements are taken seriously by the NLA and any failure to fully comply with these requirements may result in an abstract being withdrawn from the NLA abstracts program.
  • It is the responsibility of the lead author to ensure the abstract is submitted correctly.
  • Author assigns copyright of the abstract to the NLA upon submission. The Author retains a non-exclusive, permanent license to copyrighted material for personal use.
  • The NLA will not be responsible for abstract submissions not received via the website or for submission errors caused by internet service outages, hardware or software delays, power outages, or unforeseen events.
  • Faxed, emailed, or mailed hard-copy abstracts or abstracts sent on a CD/disc WILL NOT be accepted. If you are unable to submit via the submission portal, please contact the NLA staff:

Abstract Guidelines

All submitted abstracts must comply with the following requirements:

  • Length: Must not exceed 400 words.
  • Format: Organize into the following sections: Title, Synopsis, Objectives/Purpose, Methods, Results, and Conclusion (including the importance and potential implications of the findings).
  • Drug Names: Use generic names only.
  • Disclosures: Clearly disclose all financial relationships and any funding support for the research.
  • Authorship: List authors in order of contribution (primary, secondary, tertiary, with the senior author listed last).
  • Encore Presentations: Identify encore research and specify the original date and location of presentation.
  • Language: Must be written in English, using proper grammar and spelling at a standard suitable for publication.
  • Proofreading: Carefully review before submission to ensure accuracy and avoid errors.

Submission Checklist

Below you will find a checklist for abstract preparation. All abstracts are considered equally for selection, and the quality of the abstract is the single most important factor in the Committee's decision. The abstract must be publication ready, and the content, data, or general structure cannot be altered after submission.

Submissions require:

  • Title
  • Background/Synopsis – A concise description of the subject matter and prior work in this area
  • Objective/Purpose – The goal or hypothesis
  • Methods – The experimental design or technique employed
  • Results – Outcomes & measurements, with statistical significance, if appropriate
  • Conclusion – Conclusions, clinical pertinence, and value, the prevailing point of view
  • Proofread – Misspellings and typographical errors reflect poorly. Prepare to substitute plain text for special characters as these characters may not be rendered reliably (i.e., plus or minus for ±, alpha for a etc.)
  • Authors – For each author you must provide first and last name, city and state as well as preliminary financial disclosure information. Review if all authors are listed correctly on the abstract, Additional authors cannot be added after final submission
  • Supplemental Materials for Upload (Optional)
